Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Mexico / Mexicali
Gastric sleeve surgery is one of the newest forms of bariatric surgery available. This procedure significantly reduces the size of the stomach, therefore limiting the amount of calories that an individual can consume. Over time, this can lead to substantial weight loss. Gastric sleeve surgery, also known as vertical sleeve gastrectomy, is performed laparoscopically. Dr. Aceves actually removes a large portion of the stomach, leaving behind only a "sleeve," about 20 percent of the stomach's original size. Because this procedure requires the actual removal of a part of the stomach, it is not reversible. While reducing the size of the stomach helps limit the amount of food that a patient can eat, it is important for patients to understand that certain diet and exercise habits must be followed post-operatively. During a consultation, Dr. Aceves discusses all of the possible risks and complications of the procedure, and can address any patient concerns.
