The Q Vision LASIK center was founded during the first days of LASIK in the mid-1990s. The center is currently led by Dr. Tariq Qamar, a board-certified ophthalmologist who serves as the principal surgeon and medical director at Q Vision. Dr. Qamar has extensive surgical training. He began his education at the University of Kansas, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Doctor of Medicine degrees. He later completed an internship in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Missouri — Columbia. Following his residency, he completed a mini-fellowship in refractive surgery under the world-renowned eye surgeon Dr. Vance Thompson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dr. Qamar and the team at Q Vision have performed thousands of successful LASIK surgeries.

Professional Credentials of Dr. Tariq Qamar

During his fellowship with Dr. Thompson, Dr. Tariq Qamar studied a variety of sophisticated procedures, including radial keratotomy (RK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK), photo-refractive keratectomy (PRK), phakic intraocular lens implantation (phakic IOL) and LASIK. As a student, he received several scholastic honors, including being named Summerfield Scholar at the University of Kansas and an induction into the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society. While in medical school, Dr. Qamar was awarded the School of Medicine Academic Scholarship twice and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2000.
